Lynne Allison, Industrial/Organisational Psychologist
Kia ora, I'm Lynne. I help organisations find, select and grow great people, and I help individuals with their careers and workplace issues.
I set up Selectio because I wanted to bring I/O psychology into everyday people decisions. Too often, hiring and HR decisions are based on gut feel. My aim is to give leaders practical, evidence-based advice they can use straight away, and to make sure people are treated fairly along the way.
My background
I've worked in HR and recruitment for many years, across finance, insurance, government, health IT and HR consulting.
I spent more than seven years at NZ Customs, where I designed high-volume and specialist selection systems for Customs Officers, including dog handlers, intelligence roles and investigations. I also led a high-performing recruitment team. That work lifted capability, made selection more consistent, and supported fair, defensible hiring decisions across the organisation.
I'm an experienced coach, mentor and facilitator, and my interview coaching workshops are well known across government. I'm also certified in Six Sigma and Lean, so I'm always looking for ways to make processes simpler and work better, without losing sight of the people involved.
How I work
I keep things practical. I take the time to understand what you're trying to achieve, then use the right tools and evidence to help you get there. I'll explain things in plain language, and you'll always know why I'm recommending something.
I care about getting the right people into the right roles, and about making work a better place to be.

Where I work
I'm based in Rolleston, Canterbury, and work with clients in Christchurch, Auckland and across New Zealand. Most of my work is done remotely, and I'm happy to meet in person in Christchurch or Auckland when it helps.
